LIFT Project – Lesson Study in Future Teacher Education

Lesson Study board game soon in four languages

Lesson Study experts from the University of Potsdam (Germany) have created a board game that engages players in every step of a Lesson Study process through real-world examples. The goal of this collaborative game is to get to know the four stages of the Lesson Study process and consider how this method could be useful to your own practice. Throughout the game, the players follow the steps of a typical Lesson Study process and complete various tasks.

The game provides a fun, interactive, and motivating opportunity for educators to get to know Lesson Study. The game can serve both as a first introduction to the Lesson Study process and as a further training for Lesson Study teams. It can be played by educators of all subject areas and school levels, by pre-service teachers, and by anyone else who is interested in teaching and curious about Lesson Study. No prior knowledge of Lesson Study is needed.

This board game is currently available in four languages: German, English, Dutch, and Flemish. You can download the game and find more information about it here: https://www.uni-potsdam.de/de/lesson-study/materialien/lesson-study-das-spiel.

The Estonian team of the LIFT Project is translating this board game into Estonian so that it can be used with student teachers in the University of Tartu to support them understanding and implementing the Lesson Study approach. If the game is not yet available in your language, we invite you to consider translating it (you can find the contact information of the creators of the game in the link above).
