LIFT Project – Lesson Study in Future Teacher Education

The Department of Education at UoL plays a pivotal role in advancing education through research and practices that integrate technology, foster digital literacy, and promote equity and collaboration in learning outcomes. The department’s work on innovative teacher training methodologies aligns with Erasmus+ priorities, ensuring its contributions to transformative educational projects.

Key persons in LIFT project

Dr Maria Vrikki is an Assistant Professor at the University of Limassol. Her research focuses on the mechanisms of Lesson Study that support teacher learning, as well as the impact of Lesson Study on student achievement. Maria has worked on two large-scale research projects at the University of Cambridge and the University of Cyprus, implementing the Lesson Study model in the practices of in-service mathematics teachers. She has presented her work at national and international conferences and has published it widely. Maria was a keynote speaker at the 2023 WALS (World Association of Lesson Studies) conference in Zwolle, Netherlands.

Dr Maria Anastasou is a Lecturer in Education at the University of Limassol with extensive expertise in educational effectiveness and equity research. Her research focuses on understanding and addressing achievement gaps stemming from socioeconomic disparities and exploring strategies to enhance teacher and school effectiveness. Maria brings significant experience in the professional development of teachers, helping them improve their teaching practices through action research.
